REACH3D provides 3D technology for UPMC ENT surgical Robot training
Advanced 3D technology allows leap forward in training efficacy
June 5, 2017 - The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a 2015 US News and World Report Top 15 facility, once again tapped REACH3D to support a ground breaking training program. UPMC provided Surgical Robotics training for Ear Nose and Throat procedures utilizing stereo 3D imagery. The stereo 3D imagery was provided by REACH3D. The course creation was supported by MIS Solutions’ training professionals.
Once again UPMC staff noted that there was a very strong turnout of surgeons, many from across the country, for the course. The availability of multiple real-time 3D views of the surgeons perspective as well as playback of 3D recordings from previous procedures significantly enhanced the effectiveness of the course.

The 3d Vision equipment provided by REACH3D allowed the surgical staff, for the very first time, the same stereo 3D imagery that the surgeon sees (previously they were limited to 2D only viewing). The shared view enhances team communication and effectiveness while also allowing recordings of the procedure for later training and/or patient education.
